Religious Counselor Training

Diocesan counselor training is provided at our annual Retreat.  Counselors are required to take the diocesan Safe Environment training and be current with their training when counseling the youth. Taking counselor training is not the only requirement to be a counselor. Counselors must have an adequate understanding of Catholic teaching and be able to explain it to youth, must be able to interact well with youth, must adhere to the requirements and procedures for earning the awards, and must support the requirements and procedures of the Committee. All counselors must be registered with and approved by the Catholic Committee on Scouting and remain in good standing with the Committee as a counselor prior to authorization of any work with the youth on their religious awards.
